Rust Monument Tiers: Every Tier 1, 2 and 3 Monument
Which Rust monuments are tier 1, 2 or 3, and what that means for radiation, keycards and loot, in one list.
Every monument in Rust carries a tier from 1 to 3. The wiki's monument list tracks all 60 and treats the tier as a loot tier: higher tiers drop better loot but are usually more dangerous and more contested. Some monuments are listed under more than one tier, such as 1/2 or 1/2/3.
Below is every monument grouped by tier, with the radiation level, recyclers, keycard puzzles and safe zones from our monument data, followed by what the tier number does and doesn't tell you.
Tier 1 Monuments
Only four monuments are tier 1 and nothing else: Abandoned Cabins, the Lighthouse (one recycler), and two safe zones, the Ranch and the Apartment Complex. None has radiation.
Six more are listed as tier 1/2:
- Harbor Large and Harbor Small: a recycler each and a green card puzzle.
- Ferry Terminal: a recycler and a green card puzzle.
- Junkyard: a recycler, no puzzle.
- Two Fishing Villages: safe zones.
Tier 2 Monuments
The tier 2 list is where radiation and keycards start in earnest:
- Airfield: radiation 11, two recyclers, green and blue card puzzles.
- Train Yard: radiation 26, one recycler, green and blue card puzzles.
- Water Treatment Plant: radiation 26, one recycler, blue card puzzle.
- Sewer Branch: radiation 11, two recyclers, green card puzzle.
- Satellite Dish: radiation 11, one recycler, green card puzzle.
- The Dome: radiation 11, one recycler, green card puzzle.
- Safe zones: the Outpost (three recyclers), Bandit Camp (two) and the Large Barn.
Three more are listed as tier 2/3: the Missile Silo (radiation 81, the highest on the map, with a red card puzzle) and both Oil Rigs. The Oil Rigs have no radiation but use all three card colours.
Tier 3 Monuments
Tier 3 has the big land monuments, the quarries and the whole Deep Sea:
- Launch Site: radiation 52, one recycler, green and red card puzzles.
- Military Tunnel: radiation 26, one recycler, green, blue and red card puzzles.
- Power Plant: radiation 52, two recyclers, green and blue card puzzles.
- Sulfur Quarry, Stone Quarry and HQM Quarry: no radiation and no loot crates.
- Deep Sea: Floating Cities 1–4 (safe zones with three recyclers each), Ghostships A–D (only D has radiation, at 11) and Tropical Islands 1–4.
Monuments That Span Every Tier
A large group is listed as 1/2/3. It mixes quick roadside stops with some serious monuments, so the label alone doesn't tell you much:
- Low-risk stops: Oxum's Gas Station, Abandoned Supermarket, Mining Outpost and the Jungle Ziggurat (a recycler each), the Jungle Ruins, the Water Wells and the Large Fishing Village (a safe zone).
- Not low-risk: Radtown (radiation 26, green card, recycler), the Arctic Research Base (radiation 11, blue card, recycler), the Giant Excavator Pit (radiation 11, recycler), the Abandoned Military Base (no radiation, but guarded by scientists) and the Underwater Lab (radiation 52 and all three card colours).
The Radiation Ladder
| Radiation | Monuments | Tier |
|---|---|---|
| 81 | Missile Silo | 2/3 |
| 52 | Launch Site, Power Plant | 3 |
| 52 | Underwater Lab | 1/2/3 |
| 26 | Military Tunnel | 3 |
| 26 | Train Yard, Water Treatment Plant | 2 |
| 26 | Radtown | 1/2/3 |
| 11 | Airfield, Satellite Dish, Sewer Branch, The Dome | 2 |
| 11 | Arctic Research Base, Giant Excavator Pit | 1/2/3 |
| 11 | Ghostship D | 3 |
Radiation broadly climbs with tier, but the two don't line up exactly. Military Tunnel is tier 3 at 26, the same level as tier 2 Train Yard. The worst radiation on the map belongs to a 2/3 monument. No tier 1 monument has any. Bring a Hazmat Suit to anything with a number above, and see our guide to status effects for how radiation builds up.
What the Tier Number Doesn't Tell You
A higher tier is a good hint, not a guarantee. The three quarries are tier 3 but have no loot crates at all. They are resource sites you feed with diesel. The Deep Sea is tier 3 and mixes safe-zone Floating Cities with guarded Ghostships. Some of the most valuable loot sits behind puzzles at monuments listed under every tier, like the Underwater Lab.
So read the tier together with three other things:
- Keycards: green card rooms appear from tier 1/2 upwards and red cards only at the Launch Site, Military Tunnel, Missile Silo, the Oil Rigs and the Underwater Lab. Our keycard guide covers the card ladder.
- Crates: Elite Crates are concentrated at the tier 3 and 2/3 monuments plus the Underwater Lab. Our loot crate guide has the drop chances, and the wiki's loot tables list every container.
- Recyclers: the Outpost and each Floating City have three, and Airfield, Bandit Camp, Power Plant and Sewer Branch have two. Our recycler locations guide has the full list.
Where to Go at Each Stage
Early in a wipe, tier 1 and the low-risk 1/2/3 stops give components and scrap without radiation. Once you have a Hazmat Suit and a green card, the tier 2 ring opens up: Sewer Branch, Satellite Dish and The Dome are the gentler end, and Airfield and Train Yard pay more for more risk. Tier 3 and the 2/3 monuments are for a geared group. For a broader look at what each monument offers, see our monuments overview.
What are the tier 3 monuments in Rust?
Launch Site, Military Tunnel, Power Plant, the Sulfur, Stone and HQM Quarries, and the Deep Sea monuments (Floating Cities, Ghostships and Tropical Islands). The Missile Silo and both Oil Rigs are listed as tier 2/3.
What are the tier 2 monuments in Rust?
Airfield, Train Yard, Water Treatment Plant, Sewer Branch, Satellite Dish and The Dome, plus the Outpost, Bandit Camp and Large Barn safe zones.
Which monument has the most radiation?
The Missile Silo, with a radiation level of 81 in our data. Launch Site, Power Plant and the Underwater Lab come next at 52.
Does the Arctic Research Base have radiation?
Yes. Our monument data gives it a radiation level of 11, the same as Airfield or The Dome. It also has a recycler and a blue card puzzle.
Are the quarries really tier 3 monuments?
Yes. The Sulfur, Stone and HQM Quarries are all tier 3, but they have no radiation and no loot crates. Their value is the ore they produce when you fuel them.
