Where to Find Recyclers Across Rust's Monuments
Recyclers can't be crafted — you have to know where to find them. Here's a rundown across the map's major monuments.
The Recycler takes items or components and returns a percentage of their raw materials, scaled by the item's condition. You can't craft a Recycler yourself — they only exist at fixed locations in dungeons and monuments across the map, so knowing where to find one matters.
Recycler Locations
- Satellites — inside one of the standing dishes.
- Lighthouse — on the platform on the shorter side of the lighthouse.
- Train Yard — second floor, after going up the stairs into the small building.
- Water Treatment Plant — second floor, up two flights of stairs in the long building.
- Nuclear Power Plant — inside the garage door on the right, in the small building next to the conveyor.
- Warehouses — scattered throughout the map.
- Harbors — one per harbor; directly behind the first building on the left in the first harbor, and between the cranes at the other.
- Launch Site — entering from the launch pad side, under the awning at the second building on the left.
- Supermarket — in the fenced-in area behind the building.
- Gas Station — inside the garage.
- Junkyard — up on the raised shipping container next to the crane.
- Military Tunnels — in a metal shack on the outskirts of the tunnel entrance.
- The Outpost — entering from the side with the rusty watchtower, in a collapsed building marked with a "repairs" sign.
A Safety Note
If other players are nearby and you're not careful, they can take your items straight out of the recycler while it's running, without needing to fight or damage anything. A common habit is to stand directly on top of the recycler while it processes your items, so no one can casually grab your stuff out from under you mid-cycle.
Can I build my own recycler?
No — recyclers are fixed monument/dungeon features that can't be crafted or placed by players. You have to travel to one of the known locations to use it.
Which recycler location is the safest for a solo player?
Smaller, lower-traffic monuments like the Supermarket or Gas Station tend to draw less attention than high-value spots like the Launch Site or Nuclear Power Plant — a reasonable trade-off between convenience and risk for a solo run.
Is The Outpost's recycler safe to use?
The Outpost is generally a designated safe-zone monument on most servers (no PvP allowed inside), which makes its recycler one of the safest to use — though you should still confirm the specific server's safe-zone rules.
