What's New in Rust's "Devblog 101" Update

A small maintenance devblog: streamer mode now properly hides killer names on the death screen, new workshop skins arrived, EAC got an update, and servers gained flood-protection convars alongside an inventory stack-overflow fix.

What's New in Rust's "Devblog 101" Update

Devblog 101, dated March 2016 in our records, was one of the quiet ones — a short maintenance patch rather than a feature drop. After the bigger swings of the surrounding updates, this one focused on tidying loose ends: a streamer-mode fix, a fresh batch of skins, an anti-cheat refresh, and some server hardening.

Fixes and Housekeeping

  • Streamer mode now properly replaces the killer's name on the death screen — closing a gap where broadcasting players could still leak identifying names to stream snipers.
  • A batch of new skins was added, among them the Gun Box.
  • EAC (Easy Anti-Cheat) was updated to the latest version.
  • An item stack overflow bug was fixed — overflowing stacks now spill into your inventory properly instead of misbehaving.

Server Flood Protection

Server owners got two new convars aimed at query flooding: server.queriespersecond and server.ipqueriespermin. Both act as flood protection, letting operators throttle how hard their server can be hammered by queries overall and per-IP — unglamorous plumbing, but the kind that keeps busy servers responsive.

That's the whole patch — no new monuments, no balance shakeups, just upkeep. If you're curious what became of this era's cosmetics, including that Gun Box, you can follow their market history on our skin tracker.
